How Important is the "Word"? (Article 18-17)

If you’re like me, I tend to stack order things in life in terms of significance and importance. With this, I get a sense of what is important, what and how I should prioritize things, what I must focus on, and how to spend my time. I sometimes do the same in trying to understand God and who He is in relation to the trinity e.g. the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. However, as I study scripture, I realize that I sometimes forget the importance of God’s “Word” as it relates to knowing God. I frequently must remind myself that without God’s “Word” it is impossible to understand and know God. Without the “Word”, I'm merely standing in a mud puddle trying to explain what’s in the ocean.

Are You Ready To Be Persecuted? (Article 18-16)

For a true believer in Jesus Christ, life can be hard. Why? Because the world is hostile toward Him. In fact, we even find many religions hostile toward Christ, especially when He is at the center of who we are, how we behave, and above all, what we believe. Just as it was in the time of our beloved Savior, the words of Christ are not popular in today’s world. Sometimes we may be surprised because persecution often comes from the religious world, where you would expect a receptive audience (John 16:2): “They will make you outcasts from the synagogue, but an hour is coming for everyone who kills you to think that he is offering service to God.” Before his conversion, the apostle Paul thought

Unforgiveness - The "Grieving of the Holy Spirit" (Article 18-15)

I am, as I suspect most believers in Christ are, preoccupied with obtaining the fruits of the Holy Spirit e.g. love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). Equally important to me is to understand and pursue how the seeds of the fruit are to take root and ripen (mature) within my soul. Why? I know and believe that as the fruit within me matures, so will the characteristics of Christ which will be manifested in my life. I have also spiritually grown to understand that like physical fruit needs time to grow, the fruit of the Spirit will not ripen in my life overnight. Like a successful gardener must battle against weeds

Is Money Truly The Root of All Evil? (Article 18-14)

Have you ever dreamed about what it would be like to be wealthy, that being having more money than you could spend? I remember as a child desiring to have enough money to buy my Mother a house, who as a single parent provided for three children on a waitress’s income. In fact, I suspect most having experienced the burden of having to live from “pay-check to pay-check” have had fantasies of what it would be like to never having to worry about making enough money to live. On a different front, we also see how money affects people’s personality, attitude and behavior, indicating that money or the lack of it, can have a dramatic impact on how one sees and feels about him or herself in the worl
